Mastercard and noon Enable Jaywan Acceptance for Online Payments

Mastercard and noon payments have enabled acceptance of Jaywan, the UAE’s domestic card scheme, for e-commerce transactions through Mastercard Gateway, the companies announced on 9 September 2026. The capability is accessed via Mastercard Merchant Cloud, giving merchants on noon payments’ network a single platform to accept both Jaywan and international card schemes.

Mastercard and noon payments have enabled Jaywan card acceptance for e-commerce transactions through Mastercard Gateway, accessed via Mastercard Merchant Cloud, announced 9 September 2026.

This extends, rather than launches, noon payments’ Jaywan acceptance: noon had already enabled Jaywan across its merchant network on 15 May 2026; this announcement specifically routes that acceptance through Mastercard’s own gateway infrastructure.

Three named parties are involved: Mastercard, noon payments and Al Etihad Payments (AEP), the Central Bank of the UAE subsidiary that operates Jaywan, all three provided on-record quotes.

Mastercard Noon Jaywan Gateway – An Expansion

noon payments had already enabled Jaywan acceptance across its merchant network on 15 May 2026. This September announcement specifically extends that acceptance through Mastercard’s own gateway infrastructure, rather than introducing Jaywan support to noon’s network for the first time. Mastercard Gateway is a unified acceptance framework covering in-store, web and mobile channels, bundling fraud protection, authentication, tokenisation and data services alongside payment processing.

Prakriti Singh, executive vice president of core payments at Mastercard EEMEA, said:

Prakriti Singh

“By enabling Jaywan acceptance through Mastercard Gateway, we are helping businesses offer consumers greater choice while supporting the continued evolution of the country’s payment infrastructure.”

Mosam Gadia

Mosam Gadia, senior vice president at noon payments, said: “The future of payments in the UAE will be built on a mix of strong global networks and strong local payment solutions, and merchants shouldn’t have to choose between the two.”

Andrea Cianchetti, chief products officer at Al Etihad Payments, the Central Bank of the UAE subsidiary that operates Jaywan, said:

“Expanding acceptance is central to the growth of any card scheme. We are glad to announce that Jaywan acceptance for e-commerce transactions is live, and this represents a critical milestone in our Jaywan journey.”

Why it matters

For Jaywan’s national rollout

Jaywan’s growth depends on acceptance keeping pace with issuance, a domestic card scheme is only useful to cardholders if merchants actually take it. Routing Jaywan through Mastercard’s existing gateway infrastructure, rather than requiring merchants to integrate a separate domestic-scheme connection, lowers the practical barrier for noon’s merchant base to accept Jaywan online.

For Mastercard’s role in Jaywan’s infrastructure

This builds on Mastercard’s broader Jaywan relationship: Al Etihad Payments and Mastercard already launched the UAE’s first Jaywan co-badged credit card earlier in 2026, alongside a switching and processing infrastructure partnership. Enabling e-commerce acceptance through Mastercard’s own gateway extends that relationship from card issuance into transaction acceptance, a different, complementary part of the scheme’s infrastructure.

What’s next

None of the three companies has disclosed transaction volumes, a timeline for extending this gateway capability to other UAE payment platforms beyond noon, or how many merchants on noon’s network have Jaywan-issued cardholders actually transacting through it so far. Whether other UAE payment gateways follow noon in routing Jaywan acceptance through Mastercard’s infrastructure is the more concrete thing to track.

FAQ

Does Mastercard have a payment gateway?

Yes. Mastercard Gateway is the company’s unified payment acceptance platform, covering in-store, web and mobile channels, accessed via Mastercard Merchant Cloud.

How to add card payment in Noon?

noon customers add supported card payment methods, now including Jaywan cards since this integration, during checkout or through account payment settings on noon’s own app or site.

Which payment gateway is best in the UAE?

There’s no single best option; it depends on a business’s transaction mix, which card schemes it needs to accept, and its integration requirements.

How to pay noon credit card bill?

This article covers Jaywan card acceptance on noon payments’ merchant platform, not a “noon credit card” consumer product or its billing process, the two aren’t the same thing.

Where is Mastercard not accepted?

This article doesn’t address Mastercard’s acceptance gaps generally. What it does cover: until this announcement, Jaywan, the UAE’s domestic card scheme, was not accepted for e-commerce transactions specifically on noon payments’ platform; that is the specific gap this integration closes.\

Editor’s Take: This is one step in an ongoing scheme build-out rather than a standalone launch. Jaywan’s real test is whether enough merchants across enough platforms route acceptance through it by default, not any single acceptance deal. One gateway partnership with one online merchant platform is real progress, not the finish line, and none of the three companies framed it as more than that. Whether this Mastercard Gateway routing becomes the default path other UAE payment platforms use for Jaywan e-commerce acceptance, or whether it stays specific to noon’s own integration. That answer says more about Jaywan’s actual momentum than this announcement alone.
